E-Bus In India

Electric Mobility in Commercial Bus & Truck segment is witnessing a positivity across the world market. I hope India will also adapt to electric mobility on a large scale very soon. As the hype on zero-emission is catching up, electric trucks are bound to intensify in our country in the next 2-3 year. Volvo plans to make his debut in North America and Europian markets in 2020. Worldwide Medium & Heavy duty truck segment is an integral part of the freight transport industry. India is no different from this. E-mobility of trucks is expected to happen in this segment in the first phase. We see good movement happening in the bus segment. Indian Government is encouraging the use of electric-powered vehicles across states which is boosting the demand for electric buses in India. The electric bus market in India can be segmented based on

     1) Seating Capacity up to 30-seaters,  31-40 seaters and   above 40 seaters.
40 seater bus segment has emerged as the key dominating vehicle segment
     2) Battery Type
     3) Application
    4) Bus Length ( 6-8m, 9-12 m & above 12 m)
9-12 m is the major segment
    5) Region

Government is supporting to build city mobility by providing subsidy to 40 Seters & 9-12 m bus segments. Currently, North India is the biggest market for electric buses but South India is catching very fast. With the pipeline orders of STU ( state Road Transport Undertaking ), South India will outnumber North India soon.
